Joy Umenhofer

In February 2008, Joy moved to Huntsville from Pocatello, ID to join The Matrix! She has been the owner of JoysJym in Pocatello since 1986 and has trained thousands of athletes worldwide to succeed in T&T, as well as life. Her passion for the sport and children make her the driving force behind the T&T program at The Matrix.

Joy has served on the USA Gymnastics National Coaching Staff for T&T since 1993 and currently coaches the National Team Members at the National Jump Start Camps. For the past eight years, she has also served on the USAG National Junior Coaching Staff for Men’s Gymnastics. From 2001-2004, Joy was the National Tumbling & Trampoline Team Coordinator, in which she managed all coaching education, clinics, team camps, and training logs for the National Teams.

Her athletic awards and USAG accolades are countless, and she herself placed 6th at the 1972 World Trampoline Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. She was awarded the Most Valuable Gymnast at George Williams College in 1975, 1976, and 1977. She was also the 1979 Rhythmic Group Hoop Champion and 1983 Wisconsin State Power Lifting Champion.

USAG named Joy the Junior Olympic Developmental Coach of the Year in 1991, the Trampoline Coach of the Year in 1997 and 1999 and she was the USAG Tumbling Coach of the Year in 1998. Joy is a USA Gymnastics Professional Member, holds a USAG Level 5 Coaching certification in Tumbling & Trampoline, USAG Preschool Fundamentals Level 1 & 2 certified, USAG Safety certified, and CPR/AED/First Aid certified.

Her goal is to provide the ultimate coaching education, while promoting a technically sound recreational base for optimum success.

Joy has three grown sons and FIVE dogs…Andie Jane, LuLu, Bodie, Sabaku and Nikko.
